So Many Shopping Carts... So Little Time!

If you're looking for a shopping cart / eCommerce solution that can handle multiple languages here's what you need to know.

At Anyware Web Marketing we love BigCommerce and so do our clients. Shopify is great too. But neither of them fully support multiple languages yet. BigCommerce say it's coming soon and Shopify have themes that support 2 languages (but checkout is still in only one language).
If you're willing to wait (it takes time to get your store running to your satisfaction in your first language anyway) then consider BigCommerce. You'll love it.
Note: there are no timing guarantees when it comes to the release of super complex features.

One option is to create another website for each language you need (and pay a monthly fee for each store).
If you need full multilingual support now then have a look at either Volusion or CoreCommerce.

Before looking at Multi Language options, you also need to ensure you can get paid using NZ payment gateways. Neither Volusion nor CoreCommerce support Payment Express (the most popular NZ Payment gateway) but they do support eWay, so you can accept payments.

Only BigCommerce supports Payment Express.

Both Volusion and CoreCommerce have strong multilingual support, but it's best to review the details with your web design partner to ensure you find the best fit for your business.

Cost

To add an extra language to your web site you might spend somewhere between $500 and $2000 (if your new language has been set up in the shopping cart already).

The cost will depend on how much work you want to do yourself and how much you rely on your web designer.
Thanks to economies of scale, adding more than one language should decrease the cost of adding each language.
