When we build your web site we use basic search engine optimisation techniques to get your business name the best ranking we can, without spending hours doing so. We focus on your business name because that is how most of your customers are likely to find you initially.
To get your site ranked well for other keyword phrases, we first need to identify what those keyword phrases should be, then we need to optimise page(s) of your web site to rank well for each keyword phrase (like "washine machines"). The amount of work we put into getting you a top ranking depends on how much competition you have for that keyword, and how much work your competition has put into getting ranked well (like adding lots of keyword rich pages and gathering keyword rich links from other web sites).
Search engines try to return the best content they can find for the keyword phrase that is being searched, so to deliver the best content (and get a top ranking) you generally need to focus one page (or more) on each keyword phrase you want a good ranking for.
See our Search Engine Optimization for more information on how to get your site a great ranking.
How do I know if Google Adwords is worth the investment?
Anyware's Google Adwords Snapshot shows you each month how well your Adwords campaign is performing. Here's a detail explanation of the monthly Google Adwords Snapshot reports we send for Google Adwords campaigns, including a detailed FAQ.
Yes we can forward email to your email address.
Firstly we require some information from you:
- We will need the name you would like to add to the email eg sales@anyware.co.nz
- We also need the address you would like to forward this email to eg sales_anyware@paradise.net.nz
Once this is done, emails sent to sales@anyware.co.nz will arrive at sale_anyware@paradise.net.nz. You don't change your email other than tell your email programme your email address is now sales@anyware.co.nz.
Please see, Anyware Insights - Issue 5:
How To Set Up Your Email Program To Get The Most From Your Domain Name for more information and useful hints.
Secondly, it takes the team at Anyware approximately ½ hr to set this up for you.
Do I have to use my name in my email address?
No. As you will own your domain name (the name of your website - for instance anyware.co.nz) you can use any name that you like. We recommend using an info@
Can I use any font type on my website?
No. There is a limited amount of fonts that all web browsers can show. If you use a typefont that a browser does not recognise it will default to a standard font such as Times New Roman. For a list of usable fonts visit this site:
http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html
We recommend using a font from the list on the above site so that you can be sure that your site will be displayed how you want. Verdana is a good font for your sites text whilst Arial are good heading fonts.
What are Links and how can they help my rankings?
Links can be a useful way to improve your rankings in search engines. The key for links is to ensure that they offer something useful to your website visitors and don't take business away from you. Generally when looking at links I look for the following:
- Related to the business, but not in competition with the business
- Have a good ranking in search engines already - poor ranking websites can be harmful to you
- Offer something useful to the visitor of the site
- A good ranking overseas site that do similar things as the business but do not do business in New Zealand
If you are selective with your links then you can generally build up a good list of links that will enhance your search engine presence.
As for placement, the thing to consider is how you want those links to work. Some people use dedicated links pages which can be good. Another way is to display a link on a page that the link could relate to. You could place links at the bottom of a related page, though this may make the page look a little untidy.
A links page allows you to keep an organised list of links that you can easily edit and add to as you want. We use this technique on our site (http://anyware.co.nz/websitedesignlinks.php). Our links link to overseas companies that offer similar services but are not competing with us, and they have quite a good effect on our ranking in Google.
Most people will supply you with the link text that they would like you to use. You will want to do the same for them. So you will want to supply the following information:
Website Address
Link Title
Site Description
For Anyware, we use the following:
Website Address: http://www.anyware.co.nz
Link Title: Web design Wellington
Site Description: Anyware provides the simplest web design solutions for business owners who often have complex problems and don't know where to start.
The full html code would be this:
Web site design Wellington
Anyware provides the simplest web design solutions for business owners who often have complex problems and don't know where to start.
We use Web Design Wellington because through our research we know that web design is the most popular keyword used in search engines for our business and when people search for a web design company they like to use someone local to them, as we are in Wellington we decided on web design Wellington which has proved to be quite successful and we are now ranked no 2 in Google which is a great result as we formally ranked somewhere in the fifties.
If you need help with selecting the best keywords for you we can help you there with a little bit of keyword research. For more information on our Search Engine Optimisation methods please see this page http://anyware.co.nz/search-engine-optimisation-services.html.
