The 2 Big Secrets of Canned eCommerce Web Design Companies
eCommerce Website Design - E-commerce Secrets
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
The canned commerce companies have a couple of secrets that they REALLY don't want you to know.
Their first secret is that they choose a shopping cart based on the best product they can find, that's easiest for THEM to install AND that earns THEM the greatest recurring revenue.
For them to earn the greatest recurring revenue, well that excludes all the best shopping carts like BigCommerce because the best shopping carts are really stingy when it comes to paying referral fees and commissions.
When I researched and chose the best shopping cart for a New Zealand business, I looked for the best features that would help my clients sell more and allow me to focus on marketing their business.
BigCommerce only pays the developer a measly 6 bucks per month on the standard monthly plan.
You see, BigCommerce is so good that they don't need to give away their income to get more customers. They already have the fastest growing customer base in the world.
And that's fine with me because I aim to add the most possible value to my clients businesses so that I can build meaningful long term relationships. Not just grab a quick dollar and run.
I believe in Karma. When I help you to become successful, it will come back to me many times over.
Their second secret, the one that makes them SO angry when I spill the beans, is that the harder your shopping cart is to use, the more money you're going to spend with them.
I have a number of clients who came to me because their shopping cart had been set up in the standard, canned way.
A way that is designed to allow an expert developer to manage the site, as well as allow the merchant to update it. This creates an admin interface that can not only update products, but can also change everything about the web site from a developers perspective. It's so complex you need a degree to operate it and these frustrated business owners simply threw their hands up in despair.
It takes these poor folks a whole day to update a few products in their shopping cart. If that happened to you, could you afford to take that time out of your business? Or would you have to pay your developer to do it so don't have to close up shop while you update your onine store?
It's great for their recurring revenue, but not so good for you.
There are a few other secrets the canned commerce companies are keeping from you too - and they don't even know it.
I'm talking about how to create an irresistible offer and how to build an effective mailing list. Or how to use coupons to get your customers to tell their friends about you and how to get reviews from your customers. Honest reviews from happy customers are one of the best ways to convince shoppers to buy.
It's really not your fault if you don't know how to build these essential elements for a thriving online store.
You rely on these 'experts' to show you how. But they're holding you back!
It's even in their interests to hold you back.
I mean they earn greater monthly fees by providing you with a lesser shopping cart.
And the less maintenance you're able to do yourself, they more they get to charge you.
They give you some of the ingredients, but they don't show you how to bake an amazing cake.
