Choosing A Domain Name

It's easy to register a domain name, but it's not always easy to choose a domain name that matches your brand and is easy for your customers to remember.

Things to consider...

Even when the choice seems obvious at first, sometimes selecting your domain name is not as simple as you first think. Here are some of the issues you should think about...

Your domain name should be the same as your brand name
The less your customers have to remember, the easier it will be to find you again.

Never abbreviate
Not unless you have an excellent reason. Unless the abbreviation for your brand is very well know, it's just another thing about you that your customers must remember to find you. It's usually better to be consistent.

Don't wait
I have a number of clients who didn't register their domain name immediately. When they finally got around to it the perfect domain name was gone.
The worst that can happen if you register a domain name too early is you waste $60.
Compare that to the cost of creating a new brand!

A competitor has a similar domain
You don't want to put your time and money into promoting your business and web site address only to discover later that your customers went to a competitors web site because your domain name was similar.

Free Advice

I have clients who thought they would have to settle for domain names that were completely unappealling.
A short discussion about their business and a few searches later we came up with domain names that are not only easy to remember, but they contain the phrases people often think of when looking for that type of product.

So if you want help choosing a domain name that works well and is easy to remember...

Why Register and Renew Your Domain Name with Anyware?

Simplifying is good. Clients tell us they get confused by multiple suppliers and they only want to receive invoices for web stuff from one company. But it's about more than that. At Anyware, we add a layer of personal service to domain name registrations.

Domain name registrars will send you reminder emails when it's time to renew your domain name. What happens if you are busy and miss the reminder email, it goes to your spam folder, there is a problem with your mail provider and it never arrives or something goes wrong and your payment is not received?
Your domain name expires and causes your website and email to stop working and you have to pay a penalty late renewal fee to get them back again. This happens more often than you would think.

Anyware is different. We've seen this happen and we won't let it happen to you unless we know you don't want to renew your domain name. We'll move mountains to get you on the phone and confirm whether you want to renew your domain name, no matter how hard you are to get hold of.

There are also advantages in having the company that built and hosts your website manage your domain name too. Things go wrong less often and when they do we can fix them much faster than if another company is managing your domain name.
